Description

This photo shows Geo. H. Meyers Hardware, at the northwest corner of Carson and Musser Streets, in the last few days before it closed. The year is 1987; the hardware store had been open on this corner for over 50 years. "Final 2 Days", "Storewide Sale," "Prices Slashed," and "Inventory Clearance - 30 to 70% off" read the signs. A thermometer on the wall marks the temperature at 60 degrees.

At the far left, one block down Musser Street, you can see the sign for the Royal Wedding Chapel.
