Source Caption: The No. 26 was scheduled to take the last V&T run on May 31, 1950, but on May 1, 1950 she was turned in for the night at the Reno engine house, but at 7:07 something happened and the engine house was engulfed in flames and all was lost. There are those who believe that the No. 26 when told of the closure of the railroad, well she couldn't come to terms with it and took her own life by fire. Since everything was destroyed we will never know for sure what happened that night.
