Description

The highway through Wilson Canyon, between the Mason and Smith Valleys near Yerington. The tracks of the former Nevada Copper Belt Railroad are still present on the left, before they were removed and the road was widened.

Source Caption: Pictured is Nevada State Route 3 in Wilson prior to improvements during the late 1940s. A narrow segment with a turn out can be seen alongside the Nevada Copper Belt Railroad tracks which had been abandoned in 1947. This picture was featured in the 1947-1948 Department of Highways Biennial. This highway has been renumbered to Nevada State Route 208.
