Description

The Washoe County Courthouse and the Lake House on the south bank of the Truckee River, at Virginia Street in Reno. The courthouse on the left was replaced with a newer courthouse in 1911. The Lake House was replaced with a newer Riverside Hotel in 1906 and then again in 1927 when the newer Riverside burned down. The Virginia Street Bridge at right was replaced a few times, most recently in 2016.

Source Caption: The Washoe County Court House stands to the left of the Lake House in this circa 1880 photo. The courthouse still is standing but the Lake House was replaced by the Riverside Hotel. The old Virginia Street Bridge can be seen to the right, crossing the Truckee River.
