Nevada Day Double-Header

Description
The Virginia and Truckee Railroad steams down Washington Street on its way to the Carson City depot. This double-header train ran on October 31, 1938, pulling passengers from Reno to Carson for Nevada Day. Engine #26 is at the head of the train, and it looks like #27 is behind. Bringing up the rear are a reported 10 cars full of revelers.
Notice the cars parked along the road on the left, and Ash Canyon Creek running above ground on the left. This creek now runs underground in storm drains until it reaches Mills Park.
