Description

The Virginia and Truckee water tank at Franktown in the Washoe Valley. There used to be a station here at Franktown, but the water tank survived until about 1980.

Source Caption: The Virginia and Truckee RR water tower at Franktown in Washoe Valley, in 1969 (July or August). The V&T had been abandoned in 1950, and the tower was in need of repair at this point. This picture was taken looking north, thus the RR tracks would have been located to the left or west side of the water tower. Scanned from Kodak 126 Instamatic negative.
